The egg's dyes were traditionally a metallic powder that was boiled in order to dye the eggs. The last decades though, according to the EU standards, they are banned and now there are only natural food colouring, which are non toxic and are suitable for food. The Briliant blue FCF is a colouring substance that is used to improve the food colouring. Its universal code is the number Ε 133. It dissolves in water and the solution has its higher absorbance in 620nm. Its chemical name is a-[4-(N-Ethyl-3-SulfonatoBenzy1 Amino)Pheny1]-a-[4-(N-Ethyl-3-Sulfonato Benzylamino)Cyclohexa-2,5-Dienylidene] Toluene-2- Sulfonate.
